HAPPY – Jumping Dachshund
This bronze animal sculpture of a Wire Haired Dachshund was a commission for someone who adored his companion and you can see why! I didn’t know this breed well before I began, so we had to engineer a couple of visits (from Cumbria!) to my home, and copious photographs and videos in order to get to know this little man and the breed in general.
I have called him ‘Happy’ because he always was happy…and I also wanted to show the extraordinary shaped legs and slightly curved nose – hence why he has his bottom in the air, jumping through the grass, ears bouncing! I would like to do a life-size Dachshund one day, but until that time, I can enjoy ‘Happy’!
