MOONLIGHT GAZE II – Hare looking up at the Moon
This bronze sculpture was based on a smaller sculpture of a hare but I wanted to create a sculpture for the garden using the same theme.
I am very inspired by hares and the moon as there is something very spiritual about the hare, and our inability to ever get very close to either! The hare looking up at the moon, when twisting around, listening to the noises all around is something I wanted to capture in this bronze sculpture.
I have had it patinated in both a light brown/green verdigris but also, in a white wash patination, in order to give a feeling of the moon reflecting onto the hare, and removing all the colour from it. Also, having lived in the Alps, I am inspired by winter alpine hares, which turn white in order to help with their camouflage.
This sitting hare, can be situated in the garden, free standing or on a plinth in order to elevate it slightly, or inside in a larger space.
It can be cast in bronze resin as an edition of 25 or bronze as an edition of 12.
